St. Joseph Collinwood School Reviews

I have a child that went to St. Joseph Collinwood after attending CMSD. I must say my child flourished as the curriculm was age appropriate and even more challenging. The curriculm challenged & motivated my child and us (parents). The teachers were always involved, available and supportive as was Ms. Dixon and the administration. If more schools had principals like Mrs. Dixon there would be fewer behavior problems and challenging lessons that benefit both the student and parents that chose to be involved.

Unfortunatley parents forget that they play a role in their child's education, especially in catholic schools. The teacher, principals, and administration can not succeed if they do not have the parent's support. I praise Mrs. Dixon and admire her struggle to keep a predominantly black catholic school open. I have a child who has been in St. Jospeh of Collinwood since the third grade. She has fluorished and is a honor roll student, and has been on the honor roll every year she has attended. She is receiving a scholarship to continue her education in catholic school for high school. All this was made possible with me supporting Mrs. Dixon'. People need to stop blaming others, and look at themselves. I have noticed a change in the school, but it is not the fault of the administration, its the students that attend and their lack of discipline.

I had three kids that attended St. Joseph of Collinwood. This was the worst thing that I could have done for my kids. The administration there is terrible. Mrs. Dixion is very disrespectful and feels as if she and her staff can do anything. The curriculum that they had the kids do wasn't at the appropriate grade levels. This is one school that I would not recommend to my worst enemy. I am surprised they are still open!

The Principal is overwhelming with her school rules and policies, but picks and choose whom to apply them to. Some of the teachers didn't seem very interested or concerned about the education process. Or couldn't focus on that because of the behavior problems with students. A lot of the kids are from the neighborhood, who probably got kicked out of Cleveland Public. My child did well academic wise, but unfortunately made friends with classmates who apparently weren't there to learn. A lot of behavior problems in this school from the top to the bottom. If you receive a voucher and your child's education and social development are a concern, don't waste your time here.
