Marc's Great American Rib Cookoff and Music Festival: Now in its 18th Year!

Eighteen years of Memorial Day fun in Cleveland! The Marc's Great American Rib Cook Off is an annual tradition in Cleveland that marks the unofficial arrival of summer in the city.

Held each Memorial Day weekend at the Time Warner Cable Amphitheater, The Great American Rib Cook Off brings hot, delicious food, live music and all kinds of summer fun to Cleveland. This year's event will be held Friday May 22 through Monday May 25, 2010.

The festival rocks out musical act "Shinedown," who takes the stage at 9:30 p.m. on Friday the 22nd. On Saturday the 23rd, musical guest "Third Eye Blind" at 9:30 p.m. takes center stage. Sunday's festival features musical guests  "Keane" and "Matt Kearney and the Helio Sequence". Monday, the final day of the festival, brings on Josh Kolsen and "Stage Pass Now" at 2:30 p.m., The Breakfast Club at 5 p.m., and Brett Michaels at 6:30 p.m.

2010 Marc's Great American Rib Cook Off hours are as follows:

Friday May 22, 2010:  11 a.m. 'til 11 p.m.

Saturday May 23, 2010: Noon 'til 11 p.m.

Sunday May 24, 2010: Noon 'til 11 p.m.

Monday May 25, 2010: Noon 'til 8 p.m.

All rib vendors compete for the ever-coveted titles "Best Ribs in America," "Best Sauce in America" and the "People's Choice Award." The awards ceremony for participants will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, May 25.

In addition to ribs of all kinds, guests can also enjoy much-loved festival foods like Italian sausage, fries, elephant ears and foods from other Cleveland restaurants.

General admission to the Great American Rib Festival is $7 and kids under 12 are free. Enjoy admission specials like free admission between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday May 22; free admission 'til 3 p.m. on Saturday May 23 and Sunday May 24, and $1 admission all day on Memorial Day, Monday May 25. Two-dollar admission discount coupons are also available at local Marc's stores.

The cost of food varies by vendor. Be sure to bring enough cash with you, as vendors to not accept credit cards. Admission to the musical concerts is free with paid general admission. Ample parking is available for a fee.
