The Cleveland Chophouse & Brewery serves up local jazz and micro-brewed ales

Published: Jan 26, 2009

The Cleveland Chophouse & Brewery will take you back to the 1940s -- a time of relaxed elegance and simplicity. From the facility’s vintage neon signage to the nostalgic wooden décor, the Chophouse has all of the bases covered in providing a distinctive dining experience.

Famous for its handcrafted ales, which are brewed onsite, the restaurant has been a Cleveland icon since it opened its doors in 1998. The restaurant also offers single-malt scotches and a variety of bourbons made by hand in the brewery. A wide variety of local and imported wines are also available.

Patrons see a variety of grilled favorites, from the Filet Mignon Oscar -- served with crab and béarnaise sauce, to the Iowa Pork Chop -- a 12-ounce chop with bone, stuffed with Fontina cheese and sage. And we can’t forget the Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb, a full pound rack that is wood grilled and served with peach-chipotle chutney.

A variety of flavorful and creative seafood dishes, including Maine lobster, are also available. Whatever your dining desire, the menu at the Chophouse surely has something that will tickle your taste fancy. There is even a kids' menu for the little ones.

Each Friday night, the restaurant serves up live jazz along with the dishes served hot off their grill. From 8 p.m. to midnight, patrons can enjoy top jazz acts with a glass of local wine or a tall Pilsner or a Chophouse micro-brewed ale.

The Cleveland Chophouse & Brewery features an extensive brunch on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Priced at $22.95 for adults and $10.95 for children ages 5-12, diners will be treated to a carving station, freshly poached and smoked salmon, steamed mussels and other delicacies, as well as made-to-order omelets and Belgian waffles.

The restaurant is open 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m Friday and Satruday; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m for Sunday brunch and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. for dinner.

On Sundays, the bar serves drinks only betwen 2 and 4 p.m. Happy Hour features $3 mugs, $4 well drinks, $4 select wines and $5 martinis. Hour Hour lasts from 4 to 7 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and 4 to 9 p.m. on Fridays.
