Beachwood's Melange makes comfort food haute cuisine
What do you get when you combine tasty, home-style comfort food with European flare and an executive chef with fine culinary intuition? Why, Mélange restaurant, of course.
Opened in 2007, Mélange is a fine-dining establishment with as appealing twist on familiar American comfort cuisine. From seafood to poultry, filet mignon to pork chops, Mélange is sure to please even picky palates.
A laid-back yet contemporary styling makes the dining room and bar an inviting place to enjoy your favorite entrée with one of Mélange’s killer martinis. Plush, high-backed chairs provoke relaxation, as does the warm tangerine tones that mix perfectly with the espresso and ivory color scheme. Wall decoration is minimal, as the focus is on the eclectic lighting fixtures that provide the perfect balance of warm light and ambiance.
Mélange’s dinner menu features haute comfort food with a definite euro-twist — a welcome change of pace from the bountiful bar-and-grill style eateries that are sprinkled through most of suburbia.
For starters, tickle your taste buds with a bowl of chicken dumpling soup. If you’re looking for something more daring, try the sweet potato and duck stuffed pierogi, served in a cherry reduction.
If you’re a seafood lover, try the trout with roasted potatoes for your main course. Looking for something a bit meatier? The New York strip topped with pecorino truffled potato pancakes and burgundy onions is quite impressive.
If poultry is really what gets your tummy grumbling, the New Duck, served airline-style with candied sweet potato puree and haricots vert or herb-roasted chicken with pumpkin polenta are excellent options.
Mélange also offers a large variety of vegetarian entrees that are as delicious as their meaty counterparts. The squash ravioli with red onion, spinach, cherries and Frangelico cream is a menu staple that is so delicious that it’s often ordered by non-vegetarians as well.
A full-service bar with nearly a hundred labels of domestic and imported wines means that you’re sure to find a variety that will accompany your meal choice wonderfully. A kids menu is also available.
Be sure to join Mélange for their weekend brunch and inquire about private party rooms which are perfect for large family (or friend) gatherings. Dress is business casual and reservations are always accepted and encouraged.
