One Walnut Restaurant: crisp, clean and just plain scrumptious
Published: Apr 28, 2009
A cornerstone in the Cleveland fine-dining community, One Walnut Restaurant provides an innovative twist with a classic touch. Located in the AmTrust building in downtown Cleveland, One Walnut serves up extraordinary cuisine in a breathtaking atmosphere.
The dining area is chic and crisp with its minimalist design that brings all attention to the star of the show: One Walnuts haute cuisine that comes in the form of multiple courses. Three-, four- and five-course meals are available. So are appetizer samplers (degustation on the menu) in both classic and vegetarian themes.
A four-course meal includes a short, or appetizer; fish, meat and your choice of a cheese or dessert. Select from nearly 100 wines and a fully stocked bar that provides a spirit-lover's dream come true.
For your short, consider the fresh Maine lobster nachos with guacamole and sweet soy sauce, Mediterranean mussels in spicy tomato butter, crispy sesame calamari with wasabi honey and lotus root, or prosciutto-wrapped asparagus with sautéed shrimp in a balsamic reduction.
For your fish course, the chef recommends the porcini-dusted scallops and capanata, grilled salmon with arugula pesto and herbed potato gallette or the lobster mac & cheese with petite greens.
Next try the rack of lamb with goat cheese mash in a Bing cherry reduction, barbecued quail and duck sausage with grilled polenta and rhubarb compote, or the cumin-roasted pork loin with black bean ragout and roasted garlic au jus.
Your last course, which includes a cheese or dessert, is a much-awaited treasure. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, a flourless chocolate espresso torte, mint tea crème brûlée, coconut macaroons with lemon sorbet or warmed brown-sugar cake with vanilla bean ice cream make excellent choices. Or, if you prefer, select a cheese plate featuring a variety of artisan and farmhouse cheeses.
Patrons can enjoy the chef’s tasting table, which seats up to 13 and features an exclusive menu that's agreed upon by the guests and chef himself.
Dress at One Walnut requires business attire, and reservations are required.
