Rotuno's BBQ: a taste of Texas on Cleveland's west side

When owner Tim Rotuno opened Rotuno’s Texas Style BBQ on North Abbe Road in Elyria, 25 miles west of Cleveland, he knew that good old-fashioned barbecue was a rarity in west side restaurants. Since the restaurant opened for business in 2008, it has become the hands-down favorite place for locals to go when they're craving tangy, smoky baby back ribs, spicy barbecued chicken sandwiches or savory smoked beef brisket.

With finger lickin’ good meats that are slow-smoked for authentic flavor and a host of soulful side dishes, Rotuno’s Texas Style BBQ serves up sweet yet savory barbecue just like you'd find in Texas big country.

To feed both your belly and your soul, Rotuno’s offers favorites like baby back and St. Louis-style pork ribs, beef brisket, turkey, sausages, chicken, pulled pork and barbecued chicken sandwiches slathered in smoky-sweet sauces. Expect to pay  from about $7 to $14 per entre.

To accompany Rotuno’s delectable meats are a variety of homemade side dishes. The rich macaroni and cheese, creamy coleslaw, baked beans, mustard potato salad, collard greens, sweet potatoes, green beans, cheese potatoes and French fries are all sinfully delicious. The cowboy-style dining area's a great place to enjoy the Texas-sized portions of Rotuno’s delicious entrees, although all items are available for takeout.

A slice of Rotuno’s Texas sheet cake — a chocolate lover’s dream come true — or creamy banana bread pudding make perfect endings to your meal.

The restaurant also does on- and off-site catering for large groups. It's recommended to call ahead ordering for large orders.
