El Castillo Grande Mexican Restaurant lives up to its big name
It’s hard to miss El Castillo Grande Restaurant on West Erie Avenue in Lorain. Translated, the name means "the big castle" in Spanish — and for good reason: the building looks like, well, a big castle.
Located on the shore of Lake Erie, this Mexican restaurant has been an icon in the greater Cleveland area for more than 25 years. El Castilo Grande's dining room lives up to its name, with seating for nearly 200, plus private dining rooms.
Soft Mexican music and colorful décor make the restaurant fun and upbeat. The servers are knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. In the summer, patrons can dine in the large outdoor patio.
Chicken enchiladas with melted cheese, fajitas with crunchy peppers and onions, authentic beef tacos, burritos, spicy rice and beans are the pillars of El Castillo Grande’s affordable menu. Take out is available if you’re hungry for the fantastic Mexican cuisine but are on the go.
Of course, no true Mexican meal is complete without a humongous margarita. At El Castillo Grande, they're available frozen and on the rocks.. Sweet lime, golden tequila and, of course, kosher salt come together to make one of these delicious concoctions. They also come in several fruit flavors, including peach and strawberry. A full service bar is also available.
