Old Prague Restaurant: Old-World flavor west of Cleveland
At Old Prague Restaurant in Vermilion, the entrees and atmosphere make diners feel like they’re really back in the Old Country.
The dining area comes complete with old maps, antique lamps and artwork. On weekends, live piano music adds to the ambience of this West side gem.
On the menu, you’ll find things you haven’t had since your grandmother made them for you when you were a small child. Chicken paprikash, Wienershnitzel, pork roast with dumplings and kraut and goulash are just a few of the delicious items at Old Prague.
Before you start your meal, you must try the Shishki — delicious fried meatloaf rolls served with tangy apple mustard. Exquisite! Sauerkraut balls, fried provolone with marinara and coconut shrimp with orange sauce are also available.
For your entrée, regulars recommend the Holstein Schnitzel: thin, lightly breaded veal served atop a sunny side-up egg. The roast duck with sauerkraut and spaetzles, stuffed cabbage rolls and chicken paprikash with dumplings are also delicious favorites.
For dessert, try the homemade apple strudel or strawberry palacinka, which is delicate pastry stuffed with ripe, juicy berries.
A wide variety of imported Czechoslovakian beers and wines are also available. Reservations are requested on weekends. Dress is business casual.
