Stages Restaurant deserves a standing ovation
Oct 26, 2009
The upscale atmosphere at Stages Restaurant at the Cleveland Playhouse is both distinct and classic, a delicate balance that is hard to pull off-- yet this new east-side eatery pulls it off flawlessly. A great place to enjoy a fine meal before or after any live show at the Playhouse, Stages features live piano before all shows. Chef Jonathan Natividad combines crisp, clean flavors with the smooth notes of the baby grand for an experience that is reminiscent of a swank New York piano bar.
To start your Stages experience, be sure to try the cornmeal-dusted calamari with lemon aioli, wild mushroom pizza with cremini, portabella and shiitake mushrooms and manchego cheese, or fois gras with macerated cherries and brandy demi glace. All are perfect ways to kick off your meal.
New Zealand lamb chops with garlic mashers and minted peas; beef short ribs with sun-dried tomato risotto and Zinfandel demi glace; seared sea scallops with bacon and corn risotto, shiitake mushrooms and cilantro-lime vinaigrette; Cassoulet with duck confit, lamb shoulder and andouille sausage and stewed navy beans; and Coc au Vin with red wine-stewed chicken thighs, bacon, cremini mushrooms and garlic mashers are the most popular items on Stages versatile menu.
Fresh burgers like the “black and blue”, with blackened sirloin, grilled onions, roasted tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles and vinaigrette; and the Kobe burger- a classic hamburger with all of the fixins' and a side of truffled fries, are also on the menu for those looking for something a bit more classic.
Reservations are helpful and appreciated. Business dress is required.
