Moosehead Hoof and Ladder Restaurant: five alarms of fun

Oct 12, 2009

The Moosehead Hoof and Ladder Restaurant in Olmsted Falls is location in the famous Grand Pacific Junction shopping district-- complete with quaint turn-of-the-century styling with old-time charm and small-town feel.

The restaurant itself resides in a century-old firehouse, which is obviously fitting considering the fire station feel of the joint. If you enjoy firehouse and truck memorabilia and good old American food, then this is certainly the place for you.

The menu at Moosehead features American classics like burgers, pastas, salads, wraps and yummy finger foods. It's bar and grill-type fare with a fun twist-- the kind of foods best enjoyed in bluejeans and hooded sweatshirts bearing the logo of the local high school football team.

Huge, juicy burgers complete with all the fix'ins, crisp-fried white fish with tangy tartar and fresh-cut chips and slaw, tasty potato skins with melted cheddar and savory bacon (or the seafood edition with a tantalizing crab and lobster stuffing) and enormous salads filled with crisp veggies, grilled meats and fresh shredded cheeses are the mainstays of the Moosehead menu.

Of course, a kids menu is on hand for all of the little fire fighters. Children's favorites like hot dogs, chicken fingers and grilled cheese sandwiches are sure to please the taste buds of future heroes.

An outdoor patio is available during the warmer months, and serves as a great meet-up spot for friends to get together and enjoy an ice-cold brew or glass of local wine.

Reservations aren't needed, but may be helpful on busy weekends.
