Americano: The Original Great Lakes Bistro
Sep 15, 2009
The Original Great Lakes Bistro, Americano, is an amalgamation of all things simple, classic and beautiful. The versatile eatery is swank without being stuffy, and classic without being anywhere near boring. Americano is the perfect destination for the business lunch crowd, supper with the girls or a romantic candlelit dinner with a significant other.
The décor at Americano is crisp and clean: photographs of American landmarks and icons adorning the walls, classy-yet-comfy chairs surrounding intimate tables complete with candles and soft music. It really is the quintessential American restaurant.
The menu at Americano puts emphasis on fresh, simple flavors that highlight European influence on American cuisine. To start your meal, the baked shrimp clay pot with fresh corn polenta and tomato, wine and garlic sauce with toast and rouille is a decadent choice.
For your second course, the Jamaican jerk-marinated flank steak salad with mixed greens, tropical summer fruit and ginger-lime vinaigrette is a crowd pleaser. If you're in the mood for something more traditional, the juicy classic burger with cheddar cheese, Russian dressing and frites, is just as fabulous.
The third course presents such items as the pan-seared Long Island duck breast with parsnips, duck confit croquette and orange-peel crepe; the “almost” traditional meatloaf in a special glaze with roasted mushrooms and potato mashers; grilled chicken and ricotta cavatelli with melted brie, spinach and truffle oil; and shrimp scampi spagettini with white wine, garlic and cherry tomatoes.
To compliment your meal, try a glass Central Coast Chardonnay or Sonoma Merlot-- $7 a glass.
Reservations are appreciated and dress is business casual.
