Pacific East Japanese Restaurant brings authentic flavors to Coventry
Aug 12, 2009
The Pacific East Japanese Restaurant in Cleveland Heights brings a true taste of authentic Japan to the quaint east side presence that is Coventry. Pacific East is more than your run-of-the mill Japanese eatery, it's an establishment that deserves recognition as one of Cleveland's finest.
The crisp interior is deliberate and dramatic, providing the perfect atmosphere for the hurrying lunch crowd or the trendy evening diners. All eyes are on Pacific East's gourmet menu items as they exit the kitchen to be hurried off to hungry patrons in the dining area to ensure freshness. The colors of each dish amalgamate into a rainbow, whose beauty second only the delicious smells that waft from each dish as the servers pass the tables.
The very sights and smells that emulate from surrounding dishes is sure to have you craving an appetizer to help keep your sanity until your meal arrives. Try the Yakitori-- two skewers of tender chicken with scallions and a sweet dipping sauce; the Shumai shrimp, pork or wasabi dumplings; or the Unagi Kabayaki-- broiled eel served with pickles.
A large variety of teriyaki platters (8 kinds, to be exact: tuna, shrimp, white fish, salmon, beef, tofu, chicken and seafood) are available. Crispy tempuras of all kinds are on hand, complete with rice, veggies and sweet sauce.
Pacific East also serves up serious sushi. The Nigiri sushi, which features seasoned rice, cooked or raw fish or shellfish, miso soup and salad, comes in four sizes, ranging from 7 pieces to 18. Salmon, tuna, yellowtail, California and nigiri are all tasty options.
A variety of fresh sashimi and maki are also available, along with savory hot pots.
In addition to the traditional Japanese cuisine, the restaurant also features Malaysian items. From curry puff to satay, the Malaysian portion of the menu is diverse and delicious. Try the Malaysian oyster omelet-- it's an exotic twist on an American favorite.
Pacific East offers dozens of lunch plates for less than $10 each. Choose from teriyaki, tempura, agemono and donburi along with special sushi plates.
Make reservations at Pacific East by calling (216) 320-2302. Reservations are recommended, especially for weekend dinners or for all parties of 6 or more. Dress is business casual.
