For 15 years, Scorchers Casual Eatery and Draft House has been an icon in Cleveland. This family-owned restaurant is one of the most popular destinations for lunch, dinner and drinks among locals from far and wide.

Founded in 1994, Scorchers opened its first eatery in Akron. Owners Denny and Brenda Lowe received such a great response there that they decided to turn the restaurant into a turnkey franchise, and soon two more Cleveland locations were born. Today, there are nine Cleveland area locations.

This restaurant and bar is the quintessential American pub: rich mahoganies, local sports décor and plenty of flat-screen TVs mounted on the walls. Pool tables and dart boards provide interactive entertainment while you're waiting for your entree or enjoying an ice-cold brew. Occasionally, live bands make an appearance during late-night weekend hours.

The full-service bar serves up dozens of imported and domestic beers and wines, fine spirits and tasty mixed drinks. Be sure to join your local Scorchers for Happy Hour, which varies by location.

Menu items are simple, delicious and generously portioned. You'll probably need a take-home box since many sandwiches are big enough for two meals.

When stopping into Scorchers for dinner or lunch, try a basket of famous fresh-cut "frips" — potatoes that are neither French fries nor potato chips but the best features of both — mini-pita pizzas or chili-cheese nachos.

You definitely won't be disappointed with the fried tilapia platter for dinner,. It features hand-battered fish cooked until it's a delicate golden brown, and includes fresh fries and creamy slaw. The Sicilian sub — piled high with ham, salami and bacon and a tangy Italian dressing — is also a mouth-watering choice.

Other menu options include a wide variety of burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads and soups. Be sure to try a bowl of Scorchers famous chili: It's a secret recipe that combines the perfect amount of heat and sweetness.

A kids menu for guests under 12 is also available.
