Corky and Lenny's: a true Cleveland experience
Published: Jun 14, 2009
When Corky and Lenny's Restaurant and Deli opened up shop in 1958, no one could have imagined the success that this Cleveland phenomenon would become. While Philadelphia is known for its juicy cheese-steak sandwiches, Cleveland is known for its superb corned beef– a title that Corky and Lenny's helped create.
When patrons walk into this Chagrin Road eatery, the first thing they'll notice is, well, everything. From the smell of the slow roasted corned beef to the sounds of clerks yelling orders back to the kitchen to the hustle and bustle of the dining area, Corky and Lenny's can only be described in one word: experience.
The Corky and Lenny's experience doesn't stop with corned beef, either. The menu here features more than 100 items. From sandwiches to soups, burgers to salads, and dinner entrees to appetizers, Corky and Lenny's has something for everyone.
Aside from the famed corned beef, the most popular item on the menu at Corky and Lenny's is the matzoh ball soup, which is made from scratch daily. A large number of kosher items are also on hand.
With an overstuffed sandwich listing featuring enormous reubens, grilled turkey, tuna, beef liver, pastrami and a large variety of other meat fillings, there's no doubt that Corky and Lenny's is a one-stop shop for all things delicatessen. Piled high on fresh grilled breads alongside fat dill pickle spears, there's a good chance you'll be taking some home with you. If you appreciate something less meaty, try the lox, sturgeon or broiled tuna steak sandwiches.
Dinner entrees include items like prime rib, roasted chicken, salmon, and a delicious pan-fried veal cutlet. A large variety of European items are also available.
If you don't have room for dessert, be sure to take home some of Corky and Lenny's famous Hungarian streudel or hot fudge cake. They're the perfect ending to any meal, and they're large enough to become a meal in themselves.
Reservations aren't required, and dress is as casual as they come. Corky and Lenny's offers catering, party trays and delivery in addition to their dining area. For more information, visit the Corky and Lenny's website.
