Sleepy Hollow golf course always a challenge

Published: May 5, 2009

Designed by Stanley Thompson in 1925, the Willoughby Hills’ Manakiki golf course, located in the North Chagrin Reservation,is one of the most challenging courses in the Cleveland area. This 18-hole course has a breathtaking view of the Cuyahoga River Valley which boasts a fantastic variety of local wildlife.

This classic par 71 course features 6,723 playing yards and makes for a relaxing yet challenging outing with colleagues. More than 60 sand bunkers make for competitive play that is sure to test the skills of players. Don’t get too confident—the overhanging foliage also provides ample obstacles.

Lots of uphill greens and long shots make for skillful play that must mind the direction of the prevailing winds. Holes No. 2 and No. 12 were at one time double greens, which make them seem extraordinarily long.

The course boasts a contemporary clubhouse with restaurant and catered party room for guests. A pro-shop and snack bar is also on-site. All green fees include cart rental.

Tee times must be reserved during peak hours. For more information on Sleepy Hollow, or to make online tee reservations, visit the Sleepy Hollow web site.
