Lake Farmpark: a moo-moo here and a quack-quack there
Published: Mar 23, 2009
Located in Lake County on Cleveland’s east side, Lake Metroparks Farmpark is a fun experience that is sure to make the kids giggle — or moo, nay, baa or quack — with excitement.
A functioning farm complete with a variety of livestock, Lake Farmpark is much more than an average farm: it’s a fun and educational experience for your little ones.
The park hosts a variety of hands-on programs for both children and adults — the most famous one being the annual maple-sugaring weekend, in which visitors get to tap maple trees to retrieve the sweet sap that is boiled down to make syrup.
In the spring, visitors flock to the park to see the new lambs that are born in the months of March, April and May. Other programs include quilting and the farmers market, which is held seasonally in the afternoons. Patrons can purchase fresh produce, baked goods, dairy and meats straight from local farmers at the market.
Horses, pigs, cows and ducks are also kept on site for the little ones (and grown ups!) to enjoy. Kids can even milk a cow if they wish. Horse rides are available during the spring and summer and hay rides during the fall.
A gift shop and café are on site, making a trip to Lake Farmpark an ideal family outing. The park is a great place to host a birthday, anniversary or graduation party as well. For more information on party booking, visit the park’s website.
